These fish are typical on any given day on the lower Sacramento River. Some of these photos are from the Pit River, the upper Sacramento and Hat Creek. Different places fish better at different times.

The summer season is upon us and the temps are rising but the fish are still active and plentiful. The water is low and clear and the fish seem to be spread out throughout the system. The migratpry waterfoul are all over the river and that combined with some unseanoably warm weather, the lower Sac, from Redding to Anderson, will host terrific fishing for the next couple of months. Look for the best fishing through the mid morning and early afternoon and again in the evening. Look for overcast days (even a little rain) with light winds as those conditions spell great fishing.
